My strips are not changing color. Why?Updated 2 months ago
If the test strips haven't been exposed to moisture or open over a few months before using (they are sensitive to light and moisture) then they are calibrated to work fine.
Confirm pH color changes by dipping in a sodium bicarb solution mixed with water.
Ketones are trickier. If you have been in ketosis for a long period of time then you may be keto-adapted and we won't see ketones in your urine. This can be confirmed by doing a blood test for ketones.
Another option is to have a higher carb day, moving your body out of ketosis then follow your urine as you get back in.
More commonly, it is not changing because of not being in ketosis, so fasting for a longer period of time may be necessary or higher carb restrictions. Many clients get success after 2 bone broth days in a row. Some of us are just harder to get there.
